University of California, Irvine Extension

As the continuing education division of the University of California, Irvine, UC Irvine Extension plays a significant role in workforce development in the Orange County region, the state, and the world.

Through innovative public, international, and corporate training programs-delivered on-ground and at a distance-UC Irvine Extension enrolls over 35,000 students per year in about 3,000 courses from which have been developed 57 focused curricula. We attract over 2,000 visiting students from more than 40 countries each year through our residential English, professional, and custom-designed international programs.

Through UC Irvine Extension, UC Irvine was the first University of California campus to join the OpenCourseWare Consortium (OCWC) membership. Through its OCW programs, UC Irvine plays a significant role in the social welfare of the state, the nation, and the world by making the University’s high-quality courses and course materials free and accessible to educators and learners everywhere.

The UC Irvine OCW Web site currently hosts a wide range of course topics such as financial planning, human resources, business analysis, medical product development, education, and spa management. Additionally, the site features courses in Portuguese and Spanish languages and UC-approved high school advanced placement (AP) and honors courses.
